Lorne G. Hammer, B.Sc. (Geol)

Lorne Hammer graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1971 with a B. Science (Geology). He is a senior manager with diverse management experience in many facets of the upstream oil industry. He has over 35 years of drilling, completions, business and operations management experience in Canada and worldwide, both onshore and offshore.

Lorne joined an oilfield service company on graduation from the University of Saskatchewan in 1971 which gave him a good grounding in drilling operations in western Canada, in the arctic and on offshore projects both in Canada and overseas. In 1978, Lorne joined Canadian Marine Drilling (Canmar, a subsidiary of Dome Petroleum) and progressed from Drilling Engineer to Frontier Drilling Engineering Manager and then to Offshore Drilling Manager on several of Canmar’s ice strengthened drilling units. Lorne left Canmar in 1995 to become one of the founders of Canadian Petroleum Engineering Inc. in 1995.

Lorne combines business development experience including strategic planning and alliance development with a technical and operational background that has included drilling and project management of large projects, recently including 2 gas storage projects, 2 Gas Hydrate research projects in the Mackenzie Delta, and a remediation project for Cameco Corp. on a flooded Uranium mine.
